Na imię mam Agnieszka i mieszkam w Warszawie :) Wczoraj trafiłam na Pani fantastycznego bloga, więc przez cały wieczór u mnie w domu były rozmowy tylko o naparstkach + sesja zdjęciowa, na okoliczność której Kotka trafiła do łazienki, bo nie dawała spokoju i koniecznie chciała sama je liczyć, co już z daleka pachniało katastrofą :)
Kolekcjonuję naparstki od kilku-nastu (?) lat, ale oczywiście moja kolekcja jest wręcz żadna w porównaniu z Pani niesamowitym zbiorem!!!! Muszę przyznać, że dopiero wczoraj nastąpiło Ich Pierwsze Liczenie - uwaga! - wyszło cale 43 :) Nie umiem powiedzieć, jak zaczęła się przygoda z naparstkami - myślę, że u źródła leżała moja oszczędność i żal wydawania pieniędzy na drogie, zagraniczne pamiątki, budżet był kiedyś ograniczony :)
A teraz to już tradycja. Urlop - wyjazd - nowe miejsce - i już pierwszego dnia rozglądamy się z Rodziną za naparstkami - czy są i czy wszędzie, i czy kupić od razu, czy poczekać aż znajdziemy ładniejsze :) Z naparstkami z urlopów wiążą się dobre wspomnienia z konkretnego miejsca. Kilka naparstków dostałam również od przyjaciół, którzy podpatrzyli "kolekcję" i po powrocie z podróży dzwonią do nas: "kochani, musimy się spotkać, mamy coś dla Was" :) Tak więc każdy z moich naparstków to miłe wspomnienie o miejscu lub osobie.
Jak już wspomniałam - odbyła się wczoraj pierwsza sesja zdjęciowa, efekty poniżej. Na co dzień naparstki mieszkają w drewnianym pudełku po herbacie i myślę, że już tak zostanie, bo na żadne gablotki nie mamy miejsca, poza tym jak wytłumaczyć Koci, ze to nie jej zabawki, tylko Państwa? :)

My name is Bob Harper, I live in Brockville Ontario Canada. I have been collecting thimbles for over 26 years and presently have 1,926 thimbles in my collection. I have been told it is probably the largest private collection in Canada. I started collecting thimbles when I was about 10 years old. I was young enough that I have a hard time remembering how old exactly but I have built a credible collection since that time.
My collection is composed mostly of travel thimbles, although I did recently inherit a thimble from my Grandmother. I also have a set of thimbles representing each President the United States has had (not pictured). But my true passion lies in travel and antique thimbles. My parents have brought about half of my collection to me from from their travels.
I have thimbles from South America, North America, Europe and Africa. My collection represents over 22 countries and about 33 of the 50 United States. When I began collecting I would pick up any thimble I saw. As I have gotten older I have started to try and refine my choices to higher quality travel thimbles that either have an interesting design or are more than a porcelain thimble with a transfer on them. I have some thimbles from the 2002 Olympics, which form a favorite of mine. Some other favorites include a pewter stein from Germany,a silver thimble from Peru and a thimble from Greece that depicts scenes from the Odyssey.
I started a blog about a year ago intending to catalog my collection, I haven't gotten very far but I hope that will change soon! I am glad to have found an online community of thimble collectors, particularly as I have never met another collector in real life!

Когда друзья привозят мне наперстки из разных стран и городов, я очень радуюсь, потому что они думают обо мне и стараются для меня.
Коллекция моя стала расширяться и расти, когда я начала общаться с русскими коллекционерами. В России коллекционеров мало. Но общение очень интересное и полезное.
На форуме коллекционеров мы проводим сюрпризные обмены и нам это очень нравится :)

Since 1997 I have collected thimbles. Souvenir thimbles, that is. Instead of bringing home loads of souvenirs that will just be stuffed in boxes and stored after awhile, I found that a thimble collection would be much better. They are small and easy to bring home, and put together, they are also decorative.
I love travelling, and my collection is slowly growing. Friends and family have found that a thimble is a great gift when they are out travelling to, so I have two displays in my living room – one with thimbles from places where I have actually been myself, and one with contribution from others.
The sad thing is, that I started collecting 'so late in life'. I am missing thimbles from several places I will hardly visit again, such as Seychelles, Mauritius, Bangladesh, China and Bulgaria.
This is a great site – and if anyone reading this actually have souvenir thimbles form any of the countries mentioned above, and are willing to sell them to me, please contact me on my blog.

Moja kolekcja naparstków liczy (na chwilę obecną) 250 okazów z 24 krajów. Najwięcej naparstków mam z Polski (130 sztuk), a wśród zagranicznych dominują te niemieckie (aż 58 sztuk). Jeśli chodzi o kontynenty to posiadam okazy z Afryki (Egipt i Tunezja) oraz z Ameryki Północnej (U.S.A. - Floryda). Jeśli zaś chodzi o materiały to w kolekcji są porcelanowe (w tym najcenniejszy dla mnie wykonany z porcelany miśnieńskiej), metalowe (w tym srebrny), gliniane oraz drewniane.
Mój pierwszy naparstek został zakupiony w Bieszczadach w 2002 roku, stał się on zaczątkiem kolekcji. Z racji mojego drugiego zawodu - jestem pilotem wycieczek - który łączy się z wyjazdami, większość naparstków zakupiłem sam, ale też sporo przywożą mi znajomi z wyjazdów.

My name is Marga, I am from Barcelona-Spain and I began to collect thimbles in 1998. It was by chance, I bought a Princess Elisabeth "Sissi" thimble in the beautiful city of Vienna. I habe been collecting thimbles since then.
I like all kind of thimbles, made of different materials. I am used to buy some thimbles when I go abroad and my friends are used to buy thimbles for me too.
Nowadays. I buy thimbles from well know porcelain patterns, for instance: Caverswall, Linder, Mayfair and so on.

Today I would like to introduce Zuleykha from Great Britain - the girl who creates awesome polymer clay thimbles in a millefiori technique.
I can honestly recommend these wonders, because I checked it by myself. Below you can see thimbles which Zuleyka prepared especially for me. I have chosen two specimens: one with sheep in sunflowers and second with a frog sitting at the top of the thimble dotted with rose
Thimbles have been hand-sculpted, baked, sanded and covered with a gloss glaze for protection. I think it is obligatory position for every collector. Thimbles are made very precisely, patterns and colour are beautiful and matched perfectly. I hope that my photos will show beauty of these little things at least to a certain degree.

I collect thimbles, just like you. My collection is not very big yet, but still something new comes along. First I planned to collect usable thimbles, but in time also decorative ones started to appear.
There are various thimbes in my collection, silver one, leather, wooden, metal and porcelain thimbles. Each of them tells a story, I will share them with you.

Podobnie jak Wy zbieram naparstki. Moja kolekcja jeszcze nie jest zbyt liczna, ale ciągle przybywa coś nowego. Początkowo zamierzałam zbierać naparstki, które można używać. Jednak z czasem zaczęły przybywać również te ozdobne.
Mam w swojej kolekcji srebrny naparstek, skórzany, mam drewniane, metalowe i porcelanowe. Każdy ma swoją historię. Bedę o nich opowiadała.

I am in Cornwall on the west coast of the UK. I have been collecting thimbles for just a little over 3 years. I also have a blog Simply Thimbles. I started the blog in 2009 hoping to find like minded people who also collect thimbles.
My collection started with a little brown bear. He was the first thimble I ever bought as he was just so cute.
I have around 300 thimbles now. Some are bone china, some are silver and some are plastic. Most of them I have purchased myself, a few have been given to me. I also have a couple of rusty ones which look awful but I could never part with as they were my mothers.
Thank you for the invitation. I hope that there are more people joining soon as it is really good to hear from other thimble collectors and to see the lovely examples from other parts of the world.
